Maximum result, minimal use
Inventing and constructing are typical human activities. These are unique skills that distinguishes us humans from other animals. With great and amazing constructions, humans make the impossible possible. Trying to get maximum result with minimal material use.
The sky is the limit
In the permanent exhibition ‘Amazing Constructions’, developed by NorthernLight for NEMO Science Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, visitors can experiment with a wide variety of static and dynamic constructions. Turn a shaky bridge into a rock solid one. Experience the power of circular and triangular shapes. Experience acrophobia – fear of heights – as a skyscraper construction worker. Prevent a high-rise building from swaying or collapsing in a storm. Experience a shaky motion ride through big and small constructions in ‘The sky is the limit’. Photo’s scattered around the exhibition highlight Dutch examples of amazing and innovative bridges and buildings. The centrepiece of the exhibition is the seven meters high model of the Erasmus bridge, the largest suspension bridge in The Netherlands.
