Interact with science

Copernicus Science Centre is one of the most visited science centres in Europe. It was established since the Polish scientific community and the public were in need of a place to interact with science. As the first science centre in Poland, Copernicus Science Centre aimed to become a state-of-the-art hands-on learning facility.

NorthernLight was asked to create a 2000 square meter gallery space that would engage people in scientific thinking as well as show the impact of technological developments on our lives and the world around us.

Making sense of the world

Being able to change our world starts with understanding it. Science centres all over the world have developed a great method for making sense of the world around us, through hands-on exploration and learning through experience. Since the science centre method was new to the Warsaw audience, we created classic hands-on exhibits to explain scientific concepts through experimentation and play. To expand on the idea of the science centre as a social space, we developed theatre settings and laboratories on human anatomy, cell biology and environmental conservation.

Artistic movements

The entire building facade is covered by the impressive kinetic installation: ‘Copernicus Window’. This seven-meter high sculptural icon introduces the visitor to Copernicus’ scientific reasoning in an animated form. At the same time, it serves to establish the brand icon of Copernicus Science Centre.
