Quarry becomes Ecopark and Natural Future Museum
NorthernLight is proud to be key partner in the foundational development of Anzania. Kenya is on the forefront of the global triple environmental crisis; climate, pollution and loss of biodiversity. Anzania will be a place that harnesses the power of culture and play to engage and empower young eco-changemakers in environmental conservation. As an environmental experience park, Anzania will redefine the cultural landscape of Kenya with a vision and mission to appeal to audiences of today and tomorrow. The site, situated in a former quarry, showcases nature’s resilience, while Anzania’s location within a wildlife conservation area underscores their dedication to preserving nature. With its iconic building and state-of-the-art exhibit designs, Anzania aims to become a must-see attraction for Kenyans and tourists alike. All is set in a beautiful landscape of organic pavilion structures that mimic a mesmerizing forest. Anzania will demonstrate Kenya’s rich tapestry of flora. The botanical-style garden will display some of Kenya’s wonderful plant life. Growing strictly indigenous plants, expect to walk through our succulent garden, see an abundance of aloes, admire a plethora of aloes orchids, and be amazed by the multitude of grasses that underpin so much of Kenya’s ecosystem.
Global meets local
The experiences at Anzania will be a mix of different display techniques that are applied in other prominent children’s museums around the world, ranging from hands-on experimentation to immersive media environments. They are integrated in sustainable buildings that seamlessly blends with the environment. The visitor journey celebrates nature’s wonders, addresses environmental challenges, and showcases resilience. Anzania will work together with various local artists to create works of art in the landscape. We feel lucky to have worked with the Anzania team and their partners, BuildX, National Musuems of Kenya and TU Delft amongst others in their foundational phase. Images by Anzania and BuildX.
