Helping to instigate change
NorthernLight designed the ”Love for the Rivers” exhibition for the Children’s Gallery of the New Sarawak Museum. The design team travelled to Sarawak in the Malaysian part of Borneo. A dynamic country characterized by lush jungles, crystal-clear oceans and abundant wildlife, Sarawak – like every other place on earth – is unfortunately also struggling with environmental issues. In a bid to help instigate change, NorthernLight designed the children’s gallery for the impressive the New Sarawak Museum.
A new museum
The New Sarawak Museum erected a new building next to the old monumental one, to house and present the collection in an engaging manner. The children’s exhibition, is one of the important galleries within the museum and aims to empower Sarawak’s youth to take care of their local environment – specifically Sarawak’s waterways.
Interactive en immersive journey
NorthernLight designed the complete interactive exhibition for the Children’s Gallery of the New Sarawak Museum. ”Love for the Rivers” focusses on taking children through an interactive and immersive journey, showing the uniqueness of the local environment and the key principles of sustainability through interactive activities. The Children’s Gallery offers a distinct experience to the other permanent galleries in the new museum. It is an interactive space that provides children with an optimal learning environment, targeting learning outcomes relevant to local concerns. The New Sarawak Museum opened to the public in August 2022.
