New OverTheEdge swings: higher, faster and more capacity

A’DAM Tower has installed brand new swings, making visitors go higher and faster and allowing more people to swing at the same time. The OverTheEdge swings – recently listed in Insider’s Ultimate List of 44 activities to add to your thrill-seeking bucket list (video below) – has been visited and shared online by millions of people worldwide since its opening.

NorthernLight designed OverTheEdge as part of a series of unique visitor experiences in the A’DAM Tower back in 2016. The challenge was to create something iconic that would make people remember and talk about the A’DAM Tower. The swings are part of A’DAM LOOKOUT on the 20th and 21st floor of the A’DAM Tower. The indoor and outdoor sky decks, offering 360 degrees’ views of Amsterdam, have been enriched by a series of unique, interactive visitor experiences. Visitors can enjoy an audiovisual exhibition about Amsterdam, a mapped projection city model, a series of virtual reality touchscreen viewers, the GoToHeaven elevator and the OverTheEdge swings.

The experience begins in the GoToHeaven lift, where a futuristic audiovisual spectacle ushers guests to the 20th floor in 22 seconds. In a symbolic rocket launch, the glass lift propels past 42 horizontal LED strips towards an animated LED screen in the ceiling – a setting that wouldn’t look out of place in a sci-fi film. Beyond the doors awaits the interactive exhibition. With the OverTheEdge swings and the GoToHeaven elevator two iconic moments have been created that have proven to be highly likeable and shareable and have resulted in worldwide exposure on social media.
