Creating awareness for our environment
The Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has the tradition to provide a gift to the nation every five years on National Day of Oman. For the gift on the 40th anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos’ accession, PDO wanted to make people aware of the sensitivity of our environment and the measures that are required. NorthernLight and partners were asked to fulfill their wish to build a permanent brand centre dedicated to show solutions for a green future. Starting from zero… in one year!
Power Tower and Eco House
Teaming up with architects and engineers was paramount to speed up the development process. The architectural planning evolved around the narrative and visitor journey we mapped out. The spatial lay-out of this brand centre is planned around two iconic pieces – the Power Tower and Eco House – connected by a time-travel tunnel showing the evolution of energy consumption in our society. The ‘Power Tower’ is a 2 story high kinetic sculpture, set in motion buy visitors’s interaction with solar, muscular, heat and other transformations. The Eco house is a best practice showcase, with plenty of samples and insights- to adaptation of a eco-friendly lifestyle. The visual language enforces the notion of living a in balanced world.
