Capturing the essence of music
Music unites. Music lifts you up. Music can change the world Beethoven once said. But can you capture the essence of our most important cultural expression in an exhibition? The NorthernLight designed exhibition ‘MUSIC! From Beethoven to Beyoncé’, shows that you can. This incredible music experience lets you feel, make and hear music like you have never done before. The exhibition opened in the LVR-LandesMuseum in Bonn as part of the Beethoven year 2020 and will travel to many other locations in Europe in the coming years.
In the carpool karaoke driver’s seat
The exhibition let’s you experience the emotional and social power of music in an immersive and interactive way. MUSIC! enables visitors to appreciate why music empowers us and is an indispensible part of life. Five different zones, each with their own unique identity, connect music to a different theme: Self-expression, Body & Mind, Togetherness, Changing the World, and Joy. Surprising experiential elements include a sensory space that adjusts the music and lighting to induce relaxation. The self-expression zone makes creating your own pop song possible, while the carpool karaoke car celebrates music in a social context. In the silent disco, the audience can tune in to songs that express joy around the world.
Relevant and inspirational
From Beethoven to Beyoncé: all genres and styles are incorporated into the exhibition, making it relevant and inspirational for all generations and ages. The spatial identity allows to experience the freedom of expression and diversity of music through the use of diverse materials. An expressive outside of the pavilions contrasts with the calm inside. Soul, ecstasy, voice, harmony and pulse evoke poetic connections with music and beyond. The visual identity reflects on this in a playful typographic manner, bringing them to life.
“What I have in my heart and soul – must find a way out. That’s the reason for music.” – Beethoven
NorthernLight developed the exhibition in cooperation with the LVR Landesmuseum Bonn, Museon, Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum and Limburgs Museum. Production partners were YiPP and Bruns.
