Santos Sustainability workshops

Urbanization and coastal developments are affecting mangrove forests the world over. Sustainable urban development is therefore a global issue but local messages are far more likely to resonate with people. Community support and citizen participation are essential for the success of all change projects. That’s one of the reasons NorthernLight develops experience platforms that change perceptions through life long learning and engagement. We need to find out what values the audience hold and how they perceive their relationship with nature in order to change their attitudes and build support.

NorthernLight conducted school workshops in a week long programme which included a seminar, cross disciplinary student workshops and school programmes organized by Paola Huijding and Volpi Urbani. Students aged between 11 and 14 developed an ideal city, taking people, profit and the planet as key factors to consider.
