Exciting gallery transformations
NorthernLight has been working with the team of TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary, Canada for over a year to develop immersive and innovative ways of sharing science to their community. The exciting new gallery transformations aim to turn Spark into one of the world’s leading science experience, providing unique and inspirational interactions with science for everyone.
NorthernLight has created three, brand new gallery concepts around the themes of interconnectedness within nature, senses and perception and innovation. The aim for the team was to present an outlook that caters to not just global science, but to Indigenous perspectives as well. Steven Schaeken (director NorthernLight) says, “It has been inspiring to work with Southern Alberta’s Indigenous First Nations and humbling to learn more about their view on science and nature. Indigenous thinking through relationships and reciprocity, is something that has been lost in Western ideology. But it provides a hopeful and necessary step forwards in learning to live in harmony with the land”.
Unique science experiences
Each gallery has its own narrative and unique experience. Gallery 1 will be an immersive landscape that lets guests experience how everything in nature is connected. Through Indigenous and global science, guests encounter the Land as teacher and discover how all living beings in the Universe are intricately linked. Gallery 3 focuses on senses and perception, inviting guests to discover their unique selves and learn how their perception shapes their understanding of the world around them. Gallery 4 will celebrate innovation, encouraging guests to explore how creative thinking can lead to a better, more connected world. This space will inspire guests to uncover the innovator within themselves.
