The Vadodara Regional Science Centre
NorthernLight has successfully finalized the concept design for the Vadodara Regional Science Centre in India. This ambitious project entails comprehensive master planning for site development, building design, landscape creation, and interior and exhibition design, in collaboration with INI Design. The collective effort aims to bring to life the vision of a vibrant science hub in Vadodara, Gujarat.
Vadodara owes its name to the abundance of banyan trees, and is affectionately known as the ‘Cultural City’ and the ‘City of Art’ among its locals. A unique aspect of the Vadodara Science Centre is its proximity to the Vishwamitri River. The river serves as the starting point of our storytelling, both inside and outside the museum. The museum’s connection with the river is further highlighted by incorporating landscape elements that extend beyond the building, enhancing the relationship between the museum and the river. Inside, the theme of connectedness takes center stage, illustrating the intricate relationships between the realms of physics and chemistry, human-made systems (engineering, urban planning, products, and food), and the human body. Through scientific exploration, visitors uncover the profound interconnectedness of all things. This realization not only inspires but also empowers them, fostering a greater curiosity and appreciation for the world around.
The concept design encompasses five captivating themes spread across an area of 2500 square meters, creating an immersive environment where science and nature harmoniously intertwine. The Vadodara Regional Science Centre promises to be a beacon of exploration, learning, and wonder, bridging the gap between scientific understanding and the natural world.
