The Dutch Railway Museum in Utrecht was recently fully renovated to resemble a 19th century railway works and an industrial cathedral of steel and glass, with masonry filling in the spaces.
Location
Utrecht, the Netherlands
Objective
For this spectacular new museum, NorthernLight was responsible for the design and fabrication of six exciting activities. One example of an activity is the simulator built in a real train cabin. In this simulator, the visitors are given the opportunity to steer the train through a virtual landscape.
Approach
An old freight wagon is converted into an object-theatre with an awarded movie about the history of the Dutch railway. School groups visiting the museum have the chance to compete against each other when the theatre is switched to its choice theatre mode.
