Award in public buildings / culture
NorthernLight is happy to announce that we are part of the creative team that won an AIT-Award 2020 for Forum Groningen in the category PUBLIC BUILDINGS / CULTURE. We share this award with our inspiring colleagues of NL Architects, DMDJS, TANK and &Prast&Hooft.
1 million visitors in first three months
Forum Groningen is a spectacular new building dedicated to culture in the heart of the city of Groningen. Opening in November 2019, it received 1 million visitors in the first three months. NorthernLight has developed and designed Storyworld, the first ever museum dedicated to visual storytelling (comics, animations and games), as part of Forum Groningen.
Setting the standard
According to AIT’s top-class jury “the design and programming of Forum Groningen show the great courage and perseverance of its inventors. And it could very well set the standard for all future ‘cultural department stores’’.
One of the largest architecture and design competitions
The AIT-Award 2020 credits projects ‘in which architecture and interior design have been innovatively planned and realised in an outstanding way’. AIT is one of the largest competitions for architecture and interior design in the world. This year’s winners were selected out of 943 entries from 47 different countries across the globe.
