75 years of liberation

Together with Buro Extra, NorthernLight made the concept design for this app and walking tour that lets you discover 26 personal stories of veterans and civilians about the Apeldoorn liberation. Apeldoorn was liberated 75 years ago, on 17 April 1945. With this intriguing audio tour tourists as well as local inhabitants can discover what happened the months leading up the liberation.

Personal stories

During a walk through Apeldoorn, 26 special and personal stories of veterans and resistance fighters paint a picture of what it was like at that time. Take a walk in their wet, worn and sometimes very heavy shoes. From Canada you will be taken along the beaches of Normandy to the Apeldoorn city border, where brave men liberated our ancestors.

26 stations

Follow the soldiers who fought and fell for us from boot camp to liberation in this intense journey, then and now. There are 26 maple leaf tiles along the route, each telling their piece of history. The audio tour is dedicated to 75 years of liberation and is a lasting tribute to the Canadian fighters. The chosen route connects the past and the present.

NorthernLight developed the visual and spatial concept for Canadian Walk together with Buro Extra and the city of Apeldoorn.
