Design for the future
Dutch Design Week 2023 has kicked off and we are excited that NorthernLight could contribute to DREAM. DISCOVER. DESIGN. exhibition by designing the spatial experience. Together with TU Delft – Industrial Design Engineering we developed the concept for the exhibition and closely worked together with the students to make it a powerful and colorful experience.
The DREAM. DISCOVER. DESIGN. exhibition presents interactive installations, designed by students and researchers, in an immersive experience. Each project has been developed around societal themes, such as sustainability, health and AI, inviting you to explore their futuristic dream worlds. Before you enter the exhibition area, you walk through a dimly lit hallway with thought-provoking questions like “What do you dream about?” and “What is your dream world?”. Within the exhibition space, a series of ‘box-in-box’ worlds has been crafted for each student project, constructed with reused wood to minimize environmental impact. Each cube had its own unique color, bathed in colorful light, and embraced by dreamy curtains within the dimly lit setting. Inside these cubes, each student presents their futuristic world, inviting visitors to interact with their designs
Visitors exit through the same long hallway, but from the other side, now illuminated by various colorful light effects. Once again, they encounter questions that encourage reflection on the future of design. What impact do you aspire to make? How will you shape your own future? As visitors navigate these colorful spaces, they’ll find themselves inspired, filled with excitement, and exhilarated, prompting them to contemplate the possibilities for their own futures.
