Objective
The exhibition CARGO84NL in the Dutch Railway Museum reveals the secrets of freight traffic by train. Where does a package come from and where does it go?
Approach
The collection, interactives and hands-on exhibits tell the story of 150 years history of freight traffic.
Visitors receive a consignment-note at the entrance of the museum and they get the assignment to safely deliver all the parcels at the right terminals. At these terminals visitors can stamp of their consignment-note and they get feedback and playful explanation of among others the postmen, stationmaster and loading clerk.
At the end of the route a special ‘container-theater’ has been constructed with a large floor projection. A dynamic show with Google Earth images and animation that takes the visitors all over the world. It shows the route of a miniature train before it ends in the toy store.
