NEMO science centre Amsterdam

NorthernLight and NEMO are inherently linked: NEMO is the place where the founders of NorthernLight once began. After the start of their design and science communication careers, Steven and Peter wanted to explore opportunities for expe- rience platforms, connected and immersive spaces and interactive and hands-on exhibits. NEMO has remained a regular client of NorthernLight, resulting in various collaborations for the design of exhibitions.

Over the years NorthernLight developed different galleries for the NEMO, each with their own immersive approach. In the permanent exhibition ‘Amazing Constructions’, visitors experiment with a variety of dynamic constructions. The centre- piece is a seven metres high model of the largest Dutch suspension bridge. In ‘Teen Facts’, the focus is on the psychol- ogy of teenagers. Visitors explore the science of teenage years in a simplistic, exiting and personal manner. ‘You, me, Electricity’ had a historical approach, showing the role of electricity in the development of communication technology. NorthernLight also designed the Innovation Gallery, a flexible platform to showcase topics of innovation and sustainability.
