Understanding the world with energy
Why do we need to eat? What does a car do at the gas station? Why does a ball bounce? Energy is at play everywhere: in nature as well as in technology! Energy and the law of its conservation are fundamental to our understanding of the world.
The adventure of research
The traveling exhibition ‘PowerPlay‘ explores the theme of energy. It was developed in honor of Julius Robert Mayer, who was born in the city of Heilbronn in 1814. Mayer played a significant role during the establishment of the law of energy conservation, alongside other famous contributors such as James Prescott Joule. Following their footsteps, this exhibition emphasizes that science is always an adventure, that research is an open-ended processes that relies on observation, exploration and experimentation.
Energy on the move
Within the two floors of the exhibition, 34 exhibits can be found. The exhibition will first be shown at Experimenta in Heilbronn, Germany, and will thereafter continue as a travelling exhibition. NorthernLight designed and developed the exhibition in close collaboration with the Experimenta team. The production of the exhibition was carried out by Bruns, and the historical theatre movie within the exhibition was developed by Jan-Willem Wirtz.
