Inuit artefacts
The highly interactive exhibition: ‘Survival at the Pole’, shows the nature and culture in the Arctic regions. The exhibition showcases a very special collection of Inuit artefacts, and gives the visitors an overview of the changes the Arctic has gone through for the past decades.
Arctic changes
In this exhibition, visitors learn about the changes the Arctic went through over the past decades. They discover the changes in nature, in culture, and in religion. Visitors experience the impacts of technological developments and tourism on the Arctic region. They discover that the motor boat has replaced the kayak when fishing, and that the traditional masks that were part of the Inuit culture have lost their religious meaning, but are still around as souvenirs.
Extreme conditions
A key element within the exhibition is the immersive projection that showcases the immense silence and vastness of the Arctic landscape. Visitors can immerse themselves in the harsh circumstances that the Inuit people have to live with. Eight interactive exhibits give visitors an impression of the practical challenges this extreme region bears; from keeping your balance in a kayak to snow blindness and battling the cold.
