World’s first inventor centre.
Location
Ardeer, Scotland
Objective
The Big Idea, the ‘World’s First Inventor Centre’ is situated at Alfred Nobel’s former explosives factory near Ardeer in Scotland. The Big Idea building is designed to look like a gigantic sand dune topped with grass and heather. The building houses a collection of technology exhibits which take a look at the inventions of the past in order to stimulate the inventors of the future.
Approach
NorthernLight design-developed and project-managed the fabrication and installation of 20 hands-on ‘challenge and discovery points’. These exhibits highlight the technical principles of household products such as: a washing machine, a windmill generator and a fax-scanner.
